The 2027 grant application will open October 1, 2026 and close on December 1, 2026. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
All applicants will receive an e-mail confirming that we have received their application within one week of receipt. If you have not received a confirmation e-mail by December 15th, please reach out with an e-mail to info@surfgimpfoundation.org to confirm your application has been received.
The grant committee will notify all applicants of their status via email by the middle of January. Pending receipt of completed acceptance paperwork, funds will be distributed by the middle of February to grant recipients.
Surfgimp Foundation assists individuals with disabilities in pursuing an active lifestyle by awarding grant funding to help cover the cost of equipment, travel, lessons, support personnel, entry fees, and other expenses that help individuals participate in physical activities of their choosing.
Surfgimp Foundation grants are intended to support adaptive recreation and competition, not medical care or treatment. Medical equipment, medical services, therapies, and other healthcare-related expenses do not align with the Foundation’s mission and are not eligible for grant funding. This includes requests for equipment or services that are primarily medical or therapeutic in nature, even when they may also provide a recreational benefit.
Typical grant awards range between $1,000–$2,500.
No! Although inspired by an adaptive surfer, the Foundation supports many types of adaptive sports and physical activities, including adaptive equipment and prosthetics that help individuals participate in physical activities.
Yes! Previous grant recipients are welcome to apply again. However, priority will be given to first-time applicants as funding allows. All applications are reviewed based on available funding and the applicant’s current needs and circumstances.
Grant applications requesting expenses that do not align with the Foundation’s mission, including medical equipment, therapies, or other healthcare-related expenses, are not eligible for funding. Applications that are not complete, lack detail, or do not convey a clear need may not be considered for approval. Priority will also be given to first-time applicants, and all awards are based on available funds.
